I got the entire film, seemed to have been made for someone with my philosophical background. I understand the references to Sartre and Nietzche, as well as the different attitudes one can take in regards to realizing there is no meaningness. I also have had my brush with the spiritual, and how easy it is to see a seeming significance in a coincidence. I liked the topics the film touched on (and I thought the idea of an existential detective was hilarious, and, conversely to the idea of the film, thought that it would be a good idea to have a THERAPIST spy on you). I didn't especially ENJOY the film. I didn't like the actor who played Albert, maybe just a superficial reaction to his appearance, and some of the other casting probably just didn't work for me. I did like the BRIGHTNESS of the film, contrary what you normally get with such philosphical films, which tend to be more brooding and dark. That's the American in me, I guess. Aesthetically, I really like lots of BRIGHT WHITES AND COLORS.
The only plot device I really had trouble with was the notion that the different characters would treat the Jaffe's with any deference, or any "therapist" for that matter. I suppose in Hollywood they are more acustomed to taking that role for granted. If I had made the movie, I would have made them just blatantly IMAGINARY, to get over that hard to believe aspect of the film.

But especially enjoyable was reading an essay on it:
Essay on Huckabees. In reading that I was reacquainted with the view of Taoism I originally got before I made the mistake of reading the Tao Te Ching. Seems the original view I got of it from the film shown in my Humanities class at W.M. Harper college was more spot on.

-->

This is a sample post.
